Functional & Fashionable Family Space

I'm constantly looking for ways to make things easier in our household. With four young boys, we have to adapt to their changing needs. How do you incorporate functionality along side style and decor? Thoughtfully and creatively... but, you also have to be flexible if something isn't working. I like to try to make as much of our house a safe space for our 2 year old twins, along with a functional living area for our 4 yr old, 7 yr old and my husband and I. To be honest, most of my decor is out of reach from the little guys. Most furniture I pick specifically without any sharp corners and with fabric that's easy to clean. We have a couple large built ins, so most of my fragile pieces are in the shelves and my mask collection has been migrating higher and higher up the wall so that the 2 year olds can no longer reach them. Anything within reach is usually soft, made of fabric or durable enough to withstand a toss or tip. I also make sure to keep an assortment of their toys within reach, organized mostly in baskets. As everyone gets older, I know I'll eventually be able to make centerpieces for the dining room table again and set up seasonal displays around the fireplace. But, right now, this is where we're at and just like in a lot of areas of my life, I try to focus on what I CAN do. I'll put together a few top 10 lists of products that have helped me in the upcoming weeks.
